Connor Barwin viewed as ‘impact player’

New Texans LB coach Reggie Herring told the team’s official website this week that OLB Connor Barwin is a "raw, untapped talent" the team expects to be an "impact player." If Barwin can move quickly in his transition from 4-3 DE to 3-4 OLB, he’ll start at SLB, opposite Mario Williams. Transition will be nothing new to a player who began college as a TE. His chief competition for a starting job will be rookie Brooks Reed. There’s no telling yet what kind of sack upside Barwin brings. Injury claimed 2010, which many expected to be a breakout year for him. He’s a player to watch, though.
